Our Mission
We envision a future where organizations thrive because people flourish.

We envision a future where organizations thrive because people flourish.
Workers, managers, leaders, and business owners across the nation have told us that the traditional ways of operating businesses and managing workforces today no longer fit, and they are at a loss of what to do. We have created a path through the chaos.

The future of business success will require a new business operating model that generates healthy and productive work systems. We created one. An organization that functions as an integrated system will enable workers and leaders to achieve their goals.

The Work Futures Initiative (WFI) offers a new business operating model with a flourishing workforce at the core. WFI used a three-phase initiative to create a comprehensive multi-factor and interdisciplinary model where workplace conditions promote health, dignity, purpose, learning, connection, innovation, and opportunity. WFI argues that organizations create value through a balanced partnership in which risk, responsibility, contribution, and reward are aligned, enabling workers, organizations, investors, and society to prosper together. Success is not only measured by profit and efficiency, but also by the degree to which an organization cultivates a resilient and flourishing workforce and sustained social good. Business and worker goals need not be competitive; they are completely compatible.
The ultimate expression of this new operating model is an organization that functions as a community—one in which people, leaders, technology, and business systems are aligned around shared success. When organizations operate as communities, people are able to do their best work, contribute at their highest potential, and create greater value for both the enterprise and society.
The Work Futures Initiative model encourages organizations to satisfy workers’ basic human needs, allowing all workers to thrive and experience their best work life. This new model utilizes research and practice in an organization-wide, holistic, and integrated system that maximizes both business and worker achievement while promoting worker health and well-being.
