Contemporary Working Conditions and Worker Health: A Surveillance Project

HealthyWorkplaces has submitted a proposal to The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) to develop a comprehensive survey of the nature of contemporary working conditions, work arrangements, and health status in a random sample of working age adults assessed two years apart. The results of this survey will subsequently be compared to results of a similar survey administered by investigators two decades ago to gauge the magnitude of change in employment practices and risks to worker health. This survey will be supplemented by in-depth qualitative interviews with participants sampled from the survey respondents. Finally, the conclusions drawn from the project will be used to engage employers and policymakers in attempts to redress adverse working conditions in Research to Practice Activities.
