Ko has over 12 years of research and leadership experience, including 8 years in designing, conducting and presenting human factors/ergonomics/user experience studies. She obtained her Ph.D. and Management of Technology Certificate from UC Berkeley and is a Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE). She has contributed to operational improvements through her system design analysis and recommendations at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory as well as her consulting at BSI EHS Services and Solutions (formerly EORM). Her management qualifications include training, coaching and leading teams members to surpass goals. She has collaborated with researchers, scientists, engineers, designers, artists, consultants, practitioners, project managers and business managers on academic and business projects. She has presented at conferences and guest lectured at universities on visual, physical and software ergonomics. She applies the human-centered design approach to problem-solving and strives to create opportunities for positive changes and innovation. Her effective synthesis and analytical skills across domains root in extensive and versatile background including Environmental Health Sciences/Ergonomics, Vision Science, Life Science, Choreography and Technologies for Dance. She is an active member of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society.
